Bridge Engineer
Our client, a respected regional engineering firm with approximately 100 employees, is seeking a Bridge Engineer to support transportation infrastructure projects across Michigan. This is a great opportunity for a mid-level structural engineer with 5+ years of experience who is passionate about bridge design and looking to grow within a collaborative, employee-focused environment.
The Bridge Engineer will be responsible for:
- Designing and analyzing highway bridges, culverts, and retaining walls
- Preparing plans, specifications, and cost estimates in accordance with MDOT and AASHTO standards
- Performing structural calculations, load ratings, and modeling
- Coordinating with internal teams, subconsultants, and clients
- Supporting project managers with technical execution and quality control
- Participating in field inspections and construction support
- Assisting with proposals and client presentations
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 5 years of experience in bridge/structural engineering
- Strong knowledge of MDOT standards and procedures
- Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., LEAP Bridge, LARSA, STAAD, or similar)
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain in Michigan
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- A collaborative mindset and interest in continued professional growth
