Construction Project Manager - Interior Renovation & Facility Fit-Out

Location: Central New Jersey (Fully Onsite)

Compensation: $120,000 - $150,000 Base Salary

Overview

An established biotechnology and life sciences organization is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Construction Project Manager to lead interior renovations, facility fit-outs, and infrastructure upgrades within an operational campus environment. This role will be responsible for managing projects from planning and design through construction, commissioning, and turnover.

The ideal candidate will have experience delivering complex renovation projects within occupied facilities, laboratories, logistics operations, cleanrooms, or regulated manufacturing environments while minimizing disruption to ongoing operations.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Pre-Construction

  • Evaluate project feasibility, site constraints, and budget considerations for renovation and fit-out projects.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external design teams to develop project requirements, test fits, schedules, and cost estimates.
  • Support procurement activities including bidding, contractor selection, and sourcing of long-lead equipment.
  • Manage consultant, contractor, and supplier contracts throughout the project lifecycle.

Project Execution & Management

  • Oversee safety, quality, budget, and schedule performance on multiple renovation projects.
  • Coordinate communication between project stakeholders, design teams, and construction contractors.
  • Manage permitting, inspections, and regulatory approvals as required.
  • Provide regular project updates, identify risks, and drive issue resolution.
  • Lead commissioning, validation, and turnover activities to ensure project objectives and compliance requirements are met.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of construction project management experience.
  • Strong background in interior renovations, facility upgrades, and tenant/improvement fit-outs.
  • Experience with design coordination, cost estimating, space planning, and MEP systems.
  • HVAC project experience is required.
  • Experience working within laboratories, cleanrooms, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or other highly regulated environments is highly preferred.
  • Proven ability to solve technical and operational challenges in active facilities.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Proficiency with project management platforms such as Procore, Primavera P6, or Microsoft Project.
  • Understanding of construction scheduling, estimating, building codes, permitting, and safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with cGMP-regulated environments is a plus.
