Controls Engineer - Menomonee Falls - Hybrid
Overview:
This role leads the full lifecycle of electrical control systems for industrial air pollution control, energy recovery, and wastewater treatment projects. It involves design, programming, documentation, and commissioning support, with collaboration across engineering, operations, and field teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and debug PLC, HMI, and VFD programs (Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000)
- Develop industrial Ethernet-based control networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP/IP)
- Create and revise schematics using AutoCAD Electrical; ensure compliance with UL508A and NFPA standards
- Support commissioning, FAT/SAT, and field troubleshooting
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to programming standards and process improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers to ensure successful project execution
- Occasional travel (5-15%) for site visits and commissioning
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Automation Engineering or related field
- 5-10 years of hands-on experience in industrial control systems
- Mastery of Siemens TIA Portal or Rockwell Studio 5000
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, industrial Ethernet networks, and commissioning
- Familiarity with NFPA codes and standards
- Strong communication, organizational, and project leadership skills
- Willingness to work flexible hours based on project needs
Preferred Experience:
- Background in air pollution control, thermal oxidizers, energy recovery, or water treatment
- Familiarity with VMWare environments, version control tools, and structured programming
- Experience with custom-engineered capital equipment
