Compensation: $170,000 - $230,000 base salary
Overview
A leading environmental consulting firm is seeking a Director of Environmental Remediation to serve as a key leader within its growing Pacific Northwest operations. This individual will act as the practice leader for environmental services, overseeing project delivery, team leadership, and strategic growth initiatives across Washington.
This is a highly visible role with the opportunity to shape and scale a strong remediation practice, work alongside multidisciplinary teams, and play a central part in driving both technical excellence and business expansion in the region.
Key Responsibilities
Practice Leadership & Strategy
- Lead and grow the environmental remediation practice across the Pacific Northwest
- Set technical direction, standards, and best practices for project execution
- Partner with regional leadership to expand market presence and capabilities
Project Delivery & Technical Oversight
- Provide senior-level direction on complex remediation and environmental engineering projects
- Oversee project execution from proposal through completion, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget alignment
- Conduct high-level QA/QC reviews of technical deliverables and proposals
- Support advanced analyses including site investigation, risk assessment, and remedy evaluation
Business Development
- Identify and pursue new client opportunities across private and public sectors
- Expand relationships with existing clients and drive repeat business
- Represent the firm in industry organizations, conferences, and networking events
- Contribute to proposal strategy, positioning, and win efforts
Team Leadership & Mentorship
- Build, lead, and mentor a team of environmental professionals
- Provide guidance, coaching, and career development for junior and mid-level staff
- Support hiring and team growth to meet increasing project demands
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as a senior point of contact for key clients, regulators, and project stakeholders
- Interface with agencies, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams
- Ensure clear communication, strong client relationships, and successful project outcomes
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 15+ years of experience in environmental consulting with a strong focus on remediation
- Demonstrated experience leading and delivering complex remediation projects in Washington
- Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks including MTCA, CERCLA, RCRA, and related programs
- Proven experience with Washington Department of Ecology (DOE) projects (RI/FS, cleanup action plans, site closure)
- Background in brownfield or redevelopment-driven remediation projects in Washington
- Professional licensure required (PE, LG, or LHG)
