Are you a geotechnical engineer who enjoys both the technical side of engineering and the business side of growing client relationships?

We're partnering with a well-established consulting engineering firm in Greenville, SC that is looking to add a Geotechnical Seller/Doer to help drive growth across Upstate South Carolina. This is an opportunity for an experienced engineer to take ownership of client development, lead complex geotechnical projects, mentor junior staff, and play a direct role in expanding the firm's presence within the region.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with clients, pursuing new opportunities, and serving as a technical leader while still remaining hands-on with engineering projects.


What You'll Be Doing

Business Development & Client Management

  • Develop and expand relationships with developers, contractors, municipalities, industrial clients, and transportation agencies
  • Identify and pursue new geotechnical and construction materials testing opportunities throughout the Greenville market
  • Prepare proposals, fee estimates, and project scopes
  • Lead client presentations, networking efforts, and business development meetings
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to existing and prospective clients
  • Collaborate with regional leadership to execute growth strategies

Technical Leadership

  • Manage geotechnical investigations and engineering projects from proposal through completion
  • Oversee subsurface exploration programs, laboratory testing, and engineering analyses
  • Review and approve geotechnical reports, foundation recommendations, slope stability evaluations, retaining wall designs, and pavement assessments
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and field personnel
  • Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards

Project & Team Management

  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and client expectations
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across geotechnical, CMT, environmental, and civil engineering disciplines
  • Support recruiting, staff development, and team growth initiatives
  • Contribute to the long-term strategic direction of the geotechnical practice

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • 8+ years of geotechnical engineering experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing geotechnical projects from inception to completion
  • Proven ability to develop client relationships and generate new business
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience managing project financials, budgets, and schedules

Preferred Qualifications

  • Existing relationships within the Greenville and Upstate South Carolina market
  • Experience with transportation, commercial, industrial, manufacturing, or land development projects
  • Previous seller/doer or department leadership experience
  • Track record of mentoring and developing technical staff
