Project Engineer - Heavy Civil Construction
Location: Portland, OR
Salary: $85,000 - $115,000 + Bonus + Benefits
A well-established heavy civil general contractor in the Portland metro area is seeking a Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact work across water/wastewater, underground utilities, and site development projects, while gaining exposure to experienced leadership and long-term career growth.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with daily project coordination
- Manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation
- Track project costs, budgets, and schedule progress
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and stakeholders
- Support field operations to ensure quality, safety, and schedule adherence
- Maintain accurate project records and reporting systems
Experience Needed
- 1-5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction
- Exposure to projects involving:
- Underground utilities (water, sewer, storm)
- Site development or earthwork
- Water/wastewater treatment facilities (preferred)
- Experience supporting public works or DOT-related projects is a plus
- Familiarity with project management workflows, documentation, and field coordination
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with construction software (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore, or similar)
- Working knowledge of plans, specs, and construction documentation
- EIT certification is a plus but not required
