Project Engineer - Heavy Civil Construction
Location: Portland, OR
Salary: $85,000 - $115,000 + Bonus + Benefits

A well-established heavy civil general contractor in the Portland metro area is seeking a Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact work across water/wastewater, underground utilities, and site development projects, while gaining exposure to experienced leadership and long-term career growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with daily project coordination
  • Manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation
  • Track project costs, budgets, and schedule progress
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and stakeholders
  • Support field operations to ensure quality, safety, and schedule adherence
  • Maintain accurate project records and reporting systems

Experience Needed

  • 1-5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction
  • Exposure to projects involving:
    • Underground utilities (water, sewer, storm)
    • Site development or earthwork
    • Water/wastewater treatment facilities (preferred)
  • Experience supporting public works or DOT-related projects is a plus
  • Familiarity with project management workflows, documentation, and field coordination

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with construction software (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore, or similar)
  • Working knowledge of plans, specs, and construction documentation
  • EIT certification is a plus but not required
