Lead Architect- Restoration/Rehabilitation

A well-established architectural and engineering firm is seeking a seasoned Lead Restoration Architect to lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of restoration and preservation projects across a diverse urban landscape.

You will oversee project execution, staff development, and strategic planning. You'll manage a portfolio of restoration and historic preservation projects ranging from affordable housing to high-rise developments and landmarked structures. The position involves full-cycle project engagement, from initial planning through construction administration, while collaborating directly with regulatory bodies, property owners, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple large-scale restoration and preservation projects

  • Supervise team organization, training, and performance

  • Manage façade, roof, plaza, and garage restoration initiatives

  • Oversee building envelope inspections and design solutions

  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports, including Local Law 11/FISP documentation

  • Conduct site inspections using various access methods (roof, scaffolding, lifts)

  • Contribute to architectural and real estate development design efforts

  • Develop technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation

  • Coordinate with preservation authorities for compliance

  • Facilitate contractor walkthroughs and bid evaluations

  • Review project schedules, payment applications, and change orders

  • Support business development and client relationship management

  • Mentor junior staff and review their work

  • Estimate scope, staffing, and timelines for proposals

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant architectural experience

  • At least 5 years of hands-on Local Law 11/FISP experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture (Master's preferred)

  • Registered Architect (RA) license required

  • QEWI preferred
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel

  • Exceptional attention to detail and communication skills

  • Familiarity with New York City building codes and practices
