Are you an experienced CEI professional looking to take the lead on impactful transportation projects across Middle Tennessee?

We're working with a growing engineering consulting firm seeking a CEI Lead Inspector to support roadway, bridge, and transportation infrastructure projects throughout the Nashville area. This position offers the opportunity to lead inspection efforts on high-profile TDOT projects, coordinate directly with contractors and project stakeholders, and play a critical role in ensuring quality construction and successful project delivery.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Inspector ready to step into a leadership position or an established Lead Inspector seeking a stronger platform for career growth.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead day-to-day construction inspection activities on transportation infrastructure projects
  • Oversee and mentor inspection staff in the field
  • Ensure contractor compliance with TDOT standards, specifications, plans, and contract documents
  • Monitor roadway, bridge, drainage, utility, and traffic control construction activities
  • Review and maintain daily reports, project records, quantities, and documentation
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and agency representatives
  • Track construction progress and identify potential project issues before they impact schedules
  • Verify material compliance, testing requirements, and quality assurance procedures
  • Attend project meetings and serve as a key field representative throughout project execution

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of CEI, transportation, highway, or bridge inspection experience
  • Experience working on TDOT or comparable DOT transportation projects
  • Proven ability to lead inspection activities and coordinate with contractors and clients
  • Strong understanding of roadway and bridge construction practices
  • Excellent documentation, reporting, and communication skills
  • Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed

Candidates with any combination of the following certifications are highly encouraged to apply:

  • TDOT Construction Certifications
  • ACI Concrete Field Technician Grade I
  • NICET Highway Construction Certifications
  • Asphalt Field Testing Certifications
  • Erosion Prevention & Sediment Control Certifications
  • IMSA Traffic Signal and Work Zone Certifications
  • OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour
