The Transmission Engineer will support high-voltage transmission project design, engineering, and execution from early concept through commercial operation. This role leads transmission line design strategy during the conceptual development phase and provides essential engineering support across the full life cycle of utility-scale battery storage and solar projects.

The engineer serves as a key technical liaison among interconnecting utilities, external engineering firms, EPC contractors, and internal development, engineering, and construction teams to ensure successful project delivery and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

Transmission Line Design

* Lead transmission line design activities from conceptual planning through detailed engineering and construction handover.

* Develop engineering solutions, scopes of work for third-party consultants, design drawings, high-voltage design processes, and technical specifications to interconnect projects to existing utility substations or new/greenfield substations (including transmission line tap configurations).

* Prepare transmission project schedules, design drawings, and technical reports consistent with company project management standards.

* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to incorporate innovative technologies and best practices into transmission and high-voltage designs.

* Support preparation of regulatory applications, filings, and testimony related to transmission infrastructure as required.

Project Execution & Interconnection Support

* Act as the primary technical point of contact for interconnection and transmission design matters with utilities and EPC teams.

* Lead development and tracking of interconnection and transmission schedules, including key milestones under Generation Interconnection Agreements (GIAs).

* Contribute to integrated project execution plans by identifying transmission-related risks and proposing mitigation measures to support on-time, on-budget delivery.

Qualifications & Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

* 5+ years of direct experience in high-voltage transmission line design (job title and level will be commensurate with experience).

* Solid understanding of standard engineering principles, methods, and procedures applicable to transmission projects.

* Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification with active progress toward PE licensure will be considered.

* Hands-on proficiency with PLS-CADD for transmission line modeling, structure analysis, and preparation of specifications, drawings, and other engineering deliverables.

* Proven experience working closely with diverse project stakeholders (environmental, land/real estate, construction, operations & maintenance, substation, telecommunications, project management, etc.).

* Demonstrated success designing and delivering high-voltage transmission line projects, preferably in the 69 kV to 500 kV range.

Additional Requirements

Must be legally authorized to work permanently in the United States.
