A well-established, employee-focused engineering and environmental consulting firm is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead and grow its survey operations in Connecticut. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role overseeing survey projects, managing staff, maintaining client relationships, and supporting business development efforts. Key Responsibilities
- Lead survey projects from proposal and planning through completion and delivery;
- Develop survey strategies and technical approaches to meet client objectives, schedules, and budgets;
- Prepare project data for field operations and coordinate survey crew schedules;
- Review, process, adjust, and perform QA/QC on field-collected data;
- Oversee the preparation of survey plans, legal descriptions, reports, and CAD deliverables;
- Perform and review complex boundary analyses and survey calculations;
- Ensure projects are completed accurately, on schedule, and within budget;
- Mentor, supervise, and develop survey staff and field personnel;
- Assist with the implementation of new surveying technologies, software, and workflows;
- Develop project scopes, fee proposals, budgets, and cost estimates;
- Monitor project performance, billing, and financial metrics;
- Maintain and strengthen existing client relationships while helping generate new business opportunities;
- Participate in client meetings, regulatory meetings, and project presentations;
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, environmental, and land development projects.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of progressive land surveying experience, including both field and office responsibilities;
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license, or ability to obtain licensure in Connecticut;
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson Survey, or similar surveying software;
- Experience managing projects, budgets, schedules, and staff;
- Proven ability to prepare proposals, negotiate scopes, and develop project estimates;
- Strong understanding of boundary surveying principles, data reduction, and quality control procedures;
- Experience operating and understanding modern survey equipment, including:
- Total Stations
- GPS/GNSS Systems
- Data Collectors
- Laser Scanners
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client relationship management skills;
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities;
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites and client meetings as needed.
