An established and highly respected consulting engineering firm is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to help lead and grow its presence in the Atlanta market. About the Opportunity
This leadership position offers the chance to work on a diverse range of projects across commercial, healthcare, higher education, residential, cultural, transportation, and infrastructure sectors. The role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic leadership responsibilities and significant client-facing interaction.
You will be responsible for guiding project teams through all phases of design and construction while helping expand the firm's presence throughout the Southeast.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex structural engineering projects.
- Provide technical oversight for projects involving steel, concrete, masonry, timber, and other structural systems.
- Serve as a senior technical resource on structural assessments, investigations, and failure analyses.
- Manage multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate with various technical specialists.
- Oversee project scope, budgets, schedules, quality control, and client communications.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, contractors, and other industry partners.
- Drive business development activities and help secure new project opportunities.
- Mentor, coach, and develop junior and mid-level engineers.
- Contribute to technical excellence through industry involvement, presentations, publications, and professional committees.
- Support the continued growth and strategic direction of the structural engineering practice.
Requirements
- Master's degree (or higher) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required, with the ability to obtain Georgia licensure if not already held.
- SE licensure is highly desirable.
- 15+ years of structural engineering experience.
- Strong background in structural design, analysis, and project leadership.
- Experience managing complex projects and leading multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven ability to build client relationships and generate new business opportunities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional integrity, technical excellence, and client service.
- Expert witness or litigation support experience is advantageous but not required.

Compensation
Compensation will be commensurate with experience, technical expertise, business development capabilities, and licensure credentials.
Typical compensation range:
- Associate Principal: $214,000 - $236,000
- Principal: $262,000+
- Senior Principal: $273,000+
In addition to base salary, a comprehensive compensation package may include performance-based bonuses, retirement contributions, healthcare benefits, paid time off, parental leave, professional development support, and other employee-focused benefits.
