Project Engineer - Bridge | Wall, NJ
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the planning, analysis, and design of bridge structures and transportation infrastructure projects, including upgrades, repairs, and new installations.
- Produce structural calculations, engineering reports, contract documents, technical specifications, and construction drawings.
- Utilize industry-standard structural modeling and bridge engineering software to evaluate and design transportation structures.
- Perform structural assessments, capacity evaluations, and load rating studies for existing bridges and related assets.
- Coordinate with project managers and technical teams to support project execution, maintain schedules, and achieve delivery milestones.
- Partner with professionals across transportation, geotechnical, water resources, environmental, and construction disciplines to develop practical engineering solutions.
- Prepare designs in accordance with AASHTO standards, state transportation agency criteria, and applicable municipal requirements.
- Participate in site investigations, field observations, and bridge inspection activities to gather information and support engineering evaluations.
- Conduct quality reviews of plans, calculations, and reports to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with project objectives.
- Provide support to senior staff on complex engineering challenges while assisting in the development of junior team members.
- Contribute to project pursuits through technical input, scope development, fee estimates, and proposal support activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; advanced coursework or a Master's degree with a structural focus is a plus.
- Approximately 5 to 8 years of experience working on bridge and structural engineering projects.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Familiarity with bridge analysis and structural design software platforms commonly used within the transportation industry.
- Working knowledge of drafting and design tools such as AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Understanding of bridge design methodologies, transportation agency standards, and relevant structural engineering codes.
- Strong analytical thinking skills with the ability to evaluate technical challenges and develop effective solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Self-motivated professional capable of managing individual assignments while contributing to broader project goals.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development and staying current with industry best practices.
