Project Manager, Utility Scale Solar

Overview
This position is responsible for managing all aspects of utility-scale solar construction projects, ensuring successful execution from pre-construction through closeout. The role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee preparation and review of project estimates and bids; collaborate with leadership to assign project personnel.
  • Manage subcontractor selection, contract negotiations, and review of proposed materials and shop drawings.
  • Develop and review project schedules, including preliminary and detailed timelines.
  • Ensure all project management and administrative requirements (cash flow plans, subcontractor lists, procurement logs, etc.) are completed and properly maintained.
  • Coordinate with field leadership to ensure timely delivery and accurate documentation of materials.
  • Monitor construction activities, resolve issues related to changes, deficiencies, and subcontractor performance.
  • Review monthly project status reports and billings; provide updates to senior management and clients.
  • Oversee completion of punch list items and submission of closeout documentation (drawings, O&M manuals, warranties).
  • Support resolution of final disputes and ensure timely project closeout.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to prepare and modify detailed construction plans, schedules, and estimates using standard software tools.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, technical specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Strong analytical skills, including geometry, trigonometry, and algebra.
  • Excellent communication skills for interaction with clients, architects, and subcontractors.
  • Ability to lead project teams and manage large groups effectively.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in construction management for utility-scale solar projects, including estimating, scheduling, cost control, and team leadership.
  • NABCEP PV Professional Certification preferred; alternatively, 8+ years of experience in C&I PV projects.
  • Knowledge of NEC and IBC codes.
  • PMP Certification is a plus.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, resources, and timelines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.
  • On-site presence required.
