Remote - Electrical Engineer III (Renewable Energy)
About the Opportunity
Join a growing engineering organization supporting the development and delivery of complex energy infrastructure projects. This role will lead the design, coordination, and execution of utility-scale renewable energy and power distribution projects while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor engineers, designers, and technical staff on project assignments.
- Serve as Engineer of Record on assigned projects when required.
- Oversee the design of electrical systems for solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), distributed generation, and medium-voltage infrastructure.
- Review and coordinate engineering deliverables, equipment submittals, specifications, and system designs.
- Lead multidisciplinary coordination efforts with civil, structural, mechanical, architectural, and construction teams.
- Perform or oversee power system studies, including short-circuit, coordination, arc flash, voltage drop, and load analysis studies.
- Develop single-line diagrams, protection schemes, equipment layouts, and construction documents.
- Support equipment selection, commissioning activities, and value engineering initiatives.
- Lead design review meetings and serve as a technical point of contact for clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Conduct site visits, field investigations, and support construction issue resolution.
- Coordinate project schedules, budgets, and engineering deliverables alongside project management teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in electrical power systems, renewable energy, or related infrastructure projects.
- Active U.S. Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Strong knowledge of power distribution systems, lighting, grounding, electrical codes, and industry standards.
- Experience with utility-scale solar, BESS, distributed generation, medium-voltage, or power system projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to lead technical teams and interface with clients.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous field, commissioning, or construction support experience.
- Experience performing power system analysis and protection studies.
- Demonstrated leadership experience overseeing engineering teams and project execution.
