Job Summary
The firm is seeking a Senior Civil Project Manager to join its collaborative Chicago-based team. This role plays a key leadership function in overseeing design, permitting, and client management activities for a variety of land development projects. The successful candidate will work cross‑functionally with senior leadership and technical experts on a diverse portfolio of high‑profile projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and permitting of residential, institutional, commercial, warehouse/distribution, and mixed‑use developments for both public and private clients;
- Partner with office leadership to support strategic growth initiatives and ensure effective staff utilization;
- Demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset by supporting business development efforts, cultivating new client relationships, and maintaining long‑term partnerships;
- Manage and execute site/civil engineering efforts from concept through completion, including site layout, grading, drainage, utilities, and erosion and sediment control;
- Oversee stormwater management design, hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, and preparation of SWPPP documentation;
- Integrate site/civil efforts with geotechnical and environmental engineering disciplines; and
- Perform additional duties as needed to support project and team objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering;
- 10+ years of relevant local site/civil engineering experience, with a strong focus on land development projects of varying scale;
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license;
- Demonstrated experience managing full site development scopes from planning through construction;
- Proven client development and relationship management skills;
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D (preferred);
- Active involvement in professional organizations;
- Experience with technical documentation and proposal preparation;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities with sound judgment;
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary teams; and
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for client meetings and site visits.
