My client is an employee-focused engineering and consulting organization recognized for delivering some of the most technically challenging water, wastewater, and water resources projects across the United States. Their teams partner with municipalities and utility providers to help solve complex infrastructure, treatment, regulatory, and sustainability challenges that directly impact communities.
Due to continued growth throughout the Southeast, they are seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer to help lead the planning, design, and delivery of major water and wastewater treatment projects. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile treatment facilities, advanced process projects, water reuse initiatives, and utility infrastructure improvements while collaborating with some of the industry's most respected technical professionals.
This position is ideal for an experienced engineer looking to play a key role in technical leadership, project delivery, client development, and mentoring the next generation of water professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of municipal water treatment, wastewater treatment, water reuse, and related infrastructure projects.
- Serve as a technical lead and engineer of record on complex projects from planning and conceptual design through construction.
- Develop innovative solutions for treatment process challenges, facility upgrades, capacity improvements, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
- Perform and oversee process evaluations, water quality assessments, treatment modeling, and engineering analysis.
- Collaborate with utility clients to understand long-term infrastructure needs and develop strategic solutions.
- Assist with proposal development, project pursuits, presentations, and business development initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships across municipal and utility markets throughout the Southeast.
- Contribute to industry thought leadership through technical presentations, conference participation, publications, and professional engagement.
- Provide technical guidance and project support to junior and mid-level engineers.
- Help strengthen the firm's technical capabilities and industry presence.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 10+ years of experience in water, wastewater, or environmental engineering.
- Proven experience delivering municipal treatment and infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of water quality, treatment processes, and environmental regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience serving as a Project Manager, Technical Lead, or Client Manager.
- Strong background in drinking water treatment, wastewater treatment, water reuse, or advanced treatment technologies.
- Experience with alternative delivery methods, including Design-Build or Progressive Design-Build.
- Familiarity with treatment facility expansions, rehabilitation programs, and capital improvement projects.
- Active involvement in industry organizations such as AWWA, WEF, or state water associations.
- Experience authoring technical papers, presentations, or industry publications.
