Senior Environmental Compliance Manager (Houston & Fort Worth)

A nationally recognized consulting organization is seeking a senior environmental professional to support and grow its environmental advisory services practice focused on large-scale energy, utility, industrial, and infrastructure projects.

This role combines environmental leadership, client relationship management, project delivery, and business development. The successful candidate will provide strategic guidance on environmental planning and permitting while helping expand the firm's presence across key infrastructure markets.

What You'll Do

Project Leadership

  • Lead environmental planning, permitting, and regulatory strategy for complex infrastructure developments.
  • Manage environmental reviews and assessments for energy facilities, utility systems, industrial projects, renewable energy developments, and related infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with engineering, technical, and project management teams to ensure compliance requirements are integrated into project execution.
  • Direct permitting efforts and serve as a primary liaison with regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
  • Prepare and oversee technical reports, environmental studies, compliance assessments, and permitting documentation.
  • Support clients through environmental approvals and project development processes.

Business Development & Client Engagement

  • Develop and strengthen relationships with existing and prospective clients.
  • Identify growth opportunities across infrastructure, energy, industrial, government, and utility markets.
  • Lead strategic pursuits, proposals, presentations, and qualification packages.
  • Support expansion of environmental consulting capabilities and market presence.
  • Collaborate with leadership teams on growth initiatives and market strategy.

Team Development

  • Mentor environmental professionals and emerging leaders.
  • Promote technical excellence and knowledge sharing across project teams.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources, Ecology, or a related discipline.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in environmental permitting, impact assessment, compliance, or environmental consulting.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary infrastructure or industrial projects.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations affecting major development projects.
  • Experience working directly with regulatory agencies and stakeholder groups.
  • Proven success supporting business development, client management, and project pursuits.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.

Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:

  • Environmental impact assessments
  • Air quality permitting
  • Water resources and NPDES permitting
  • Wetlands and natural resource permitting
  • Utility and transmission infrastructure projects
  • Renewable energy development
  • Industrial facility permitting and compliance
  • Environmental due diligence and regulatory review
