Position Overview
A civil engineering and land development consulting firm is seeking a Senior Land Surveyor to join its San Antonio-based team. This role is responsible for supporting the execution of land surveying services through field data collection, data reduction, and preparation of survey plans and CAD deliverables. The position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse mix of project types, including commercial, retail, industrial, and residential developments, in a collaborative and technologically advanced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect field data using modern surveying equipment and software
- Assist with the reduction and processing of field data for survey deliverables
- Prepare survey plans and CAD drawings for a variety of project types
- Utilize reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, and aerial photography to assess site conditions and support project planning
- Assist with:
- Survey control and monument recovery
- Construction layout and staking
- Collection of invert and subsurface utility information
- Photo documentation of project areas
- Support project execution on both small- and large-scale developments
- Recommend new methods, tools, or processes to improve efficiency and quality
- Perform additional surveying and project-related tasks as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in Surveying or related field preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in:
- Topographic surveying
- Boundary surveys
- Utility surveys
- Construction layout
- GPS surveying
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD; experience with Carlson and/or Leica processing software is a plus
- Familiarity with applicable local, state, and federal surveying regulations
- Strong CAD and computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Proficient mathematical and analytical skills
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team environment
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record
- Reliable transportation for site visits and client meetings
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to perform fieldwork in varying outdoor conditions
- Ability to travel to job sites as required
