Overview:
My client, a well-established engineering and technical services firm, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer to join their growing team in Owings Mills, MD. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and experienced designer who excels in developing mechanical system layouts and construction documents for industrial, manufacturing, and commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed mechanical system designs including HVAC, piping, and utility layouts.
  • Prepare construction drawings, equipment schedules, and specifications using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other design professionals to ensure accurate and coordinated project documentation.
  • Conduct field surveys and site visits to verify existing conditions and support design development.
  • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and material take-offs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
  • Mentor junior designers and drafters as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or technical certification in Mechanical Design, Drafting, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in mechanical design for building systems or industrial facilities.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit; experience with design software such as Trane Trace or Pipe-Flo is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC, piping, and plumbing.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, IMC).
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • U.S. work authorization required.
