Sheet Metal Detailer
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sheet Metal Detailer to join our dynamic team. This role is responsible for producing accurate and constructible shop and fabrication drawings for HVAC and architectural sheet metal systems using 3D modeling software. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical systems, construction practices, and coordination processes within commercial and industrial projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed 3D models and shop drawings for sheet metal ductwork and components using software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and/or Trimble SysQue.
- Interpret architectural and mechanical drawings to create coordinated layouts.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure constructability and accuracy.
- Participate in BIM coordination meetings and clash detection processes.
- Generate spool drawings, material take-offs, and fabrication-ready documents.
- Maintain drawing standards and ensure compliance with project specifications and codes.
- Support field installation teams with updated drawings and revisions as needed.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in sheet metal detailing or mechanical drafting.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD MEP, Revit, Navisworks, and/or other BIM software.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, ductwork components, and fabrication methods.
- Familiarity with SMACNA standards and local building codes.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Trimble SysQue or similar fabrication software.
- Background in mechanical contracting or construction fieldwork.
- Knowledge of coordination with other trades (plumbing, electrical, structural).
