Systems Engineer - Coal-Fired Plant
A leading electric utility is seeking a Senior Electrical Controls Engineer to support power generation operations and major plant improvement initiatives. This individual will serve as a technical leader responsible for system reliability, maintenance strategies, capital projects, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement efforts across generation assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering projects from planning through execution, ensuring safe, cost-effective, and compliant delivery.
- Develop long-term equipment and maintenance strategies for plant control systems.
- Analyze operational, testing, and maintenance data to improve system reliability and performance.
- Support outage planning, corrective action reviews, and plant improvement projects.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders on engineering initiatives.
- Review technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to project teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited preferred).
- 7+ years of electrical engineering experience within power generation, industrial facilities, or heavy process industries.
- Strong knowledge of power plant systems, controls, maintenance practices, and equipment performance.
- Ability to interpret schematics, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
- PE license preferred.
- Excellent communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.

- Primarily plant-based position with occasional travel.
- Participation in outage support and occasional after-hours work may be required.
