Transportation Planning Manager/Engineer
Our client, a growing Southern California transportation consulting firm, is seeking an experienced Transportation Planning Manager to lead their planning practice and help drive continued growth across the region. This position offers the opportunity to oversee high-profile transportation planning projects, mentor a team of professionals, and play a key role in business development and client management.
The firm works with public agencies, municipalities, and private-sector clients on a wide range of transportation planning and traffic engineering initiatives throughout California.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of transportation planning professionals.
- Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables for transportation planning assignments.
- Oversee the preparation of Traffic Impact Studies, Transportation Management Plans (TMPs), parking studies, and multimodal transportation analyses.
- Direct technical transportation planning efforts related to CEQA/NEPA documentation, EIR/EIS support, corridor studies, and planning reports.
- Serve as a primary client contact and maintain relationships with agencies including Caltrans and local municipalities.
- Conduct senior-level quality reviews of technical analyses, traffic models, and planning reports.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, support proposal development, and participate in client presentations and industry events.
- Collaborate with leadership on strategic growth initiatives and department development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, or a related field.
- 10+ years of transportation planning experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
- Minimum 3 years of project management and/or team leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of transportation planning methodologies, traffic operations, and multimodal analysis.
- Experience with Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) analysis and regional travel demand modeling.
- Familiarity with CEQA, NEPA, and Caltrans project delivery processes.
- Proficiency with HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, and related transportation analysis tools.
- Excellent communication and client-facing abilities.
- California Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Traffic Engineer (TE) license required.
- Experience with PS&E preparation is a plus.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is preferred.
