About the Opportunity
Position Summary
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical design of rooftop and ground-mounted solar photovoltaic projects.
- Produce detailed engineering drawing packages using AutoCAD, including site plans, electrical single-line diagrams, grounding details, equipment layouts, and permitting documentation.
- Perform and review electrical engineering analyses such as voltage drop calculations, short-circuit studies, load flow evaluations, conductor sizing, and equipment ratings.
- Provide technical expertise related to PV system layouts, module stringing, grounding design, and equipment selection.
- Collaborate with internal design teams and external engineering partners to develop permit and construction-ready plans.
- Ensure engineering deliverables comply with NEC requirements, local jurisdictions, and utility interconnection standards.
- Support the design and integration of battery energy storage systems (BESS), including equipment selection and system configuration.
- Conduct occasional site visits to evaluate project feasibility, constructability, and interconnection considerations.
- Coordinate with project managers, architects, professional engineers, and other project stakeholders throughout the design process.
- Assist procurement and construction teams by developing accurate electrical material takeoffs and bills of materials.
- Work cross-functionally with operations, project management, business development, and construction teams to improve project outcomes and identify value-engineering opportunities.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy, organization, and accountability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 6 years of electrical engineering experience within construction, energy, infrastructure, or related industries.
- At least 3 years of experience supporting solar energy projects.
- Familiarity with EPC, consulting engineering, or Engineer of Record (EOR) environments is highly desirable.
- EIT certification required; Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel periodically to project sites.
- Strong understanding of NEC requirements, utility interconnection processes, and electrical design best practices.
- Experience with AutoCAD and related engineering design software.

- Experience with large-scale commercial, industrial, or utility-scale solar projects.
- Exposure to battery energy storage system (BESS) design and integration.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with clients, utilities, contractors, and engineering partners.
