Electrical Engineer
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- 7+ years of electrical engineering experience in industrial facilities, municipal infrastructure, consulting engineering, power distribution, automation, or process control environments.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. Candidates actively pursuing licensure will also be considered.
- Demonstrated experience leading electrical design efforts from concept through construction and startup.
- Strong background in power distribution systems, motor control centers (MCCs), control panels, instrumentation systems, standby power generation, and industrial automation projects.
- Experience performing electrical studies including load calculations, short circuit analysis, voltage drop calculations, protective device coordination, and equipment sizing.
- Working knowledge of NEC (NFPA 70), NFPA 820, IEEE standards, and industry design best practices.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and electrical design software.
- Experience coordinating with clients, contractors, equipment vendors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Ability to independently manage project schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical solutions to clients and project stakeholders.
- Experience in water/wastewater, industrial manufacturing, mining, energy, or other process-driven industries is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and execution of electrical systems for industrial and municipal infrastructure projects.
- Develop complete electrical construction packages including one-line diagrams, power plans, MCC layouts, control schematics, panel designs, and equipment specifications.
- Serve as the Engineer of Record on assigned projects when licensed.
- Perform electrical engineering calculations and studies to support safe, reliable, and code-compliant system designs.
- Design low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems, standby generation systems, UPS systems, grounding systems, and lighting systems.
- Develop solutions involving instrumentation, industrial controls, and automation systems in coordination with control system engineers.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
- Interface directly with clients to understand project requirements, develop scopes of work, and provide technical guidance.
- Coordinate engineering activities with mechanical, civil, structural, controls, and construction teams.
- Support proposal development, project planning, and technical reviews.
- Conduct field investigations, site assessments, and condition evaluations of existing electrical infrastructure.
- Review contractor submittals, respond to RFIs, and provide engineering support during construction.
- Lead startup, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting activities to ensure successful implementation.
- Mentor junior engineers and designers and provide technical oversight on project deliverables.
- Identify opportunities for system improvements, modernization projects, and operational efficiencies for clients.
