Heavy Civil Project Manager
Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and deliver heavy civil construction projects throughout the Oakland and greater Bay Area. This role will oversee all phases of project execution, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and client coordination, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and profitability.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record managing complex heavy civil projects, particularly bridge structures, roadway/highway construction, and underground utilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of heavy civil construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
- Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, and cost forecasts
- Oversee contract administration, including subcontracts, change orders, and claims management
- Coordinate with owners, engineers, inspectors, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery
- Lead project teams including project engineers, field staff, and subcontractors
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions to maintain schedule and budget
- Conduct regular project meetings and provide reporting to executive leadership
- Support estimating and preconstruction efforts as needed
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience managing heavy civil construction projects
- Proven experience working on projects including, but not limited to:
- Heavy road/highway construction
- Bridge construction (strong preference for structural bridge experience)
- Underground utilities (wet utilities preferred)
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and project management principles
- Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and subcontractors
- Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, or equivalent)
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
