Electrical Engineer - Industrial Power Systems

Location: Salt Lake City, UT (Hybrid) | Flexible Hybrid Schedule
Salary Range: $120,000 - $170,000+
Travel: Project-Based Travel as Needed

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the design and execution of industrial power distribution projects across a variety of process manufacturing environments. This role will focus on electrical system design, power distribution, grounding, lighting, construction support, and startup activities for projects ranging from facility upgrades to large-scale capital expansions.

The ideal candidate has experience working within consulting engineering, EPC, or industrial environments and enjoys collaborating directly with clients, project teams, and construction personnel to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design medium- and low-voltage electrical power distribution systems for industrial facilities.
  • Develop conceptual layouts, electrical designs, and engineering solutions for capital and improvement projects.
  • Prepare and review one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, motor schematics, conduit routing plans, cable tray layouts, and construction documents.
  • Develop equipment specifications and technical procurement packages.
  • Prepare construction specifications and contractor scope-of-work documents.
  • Coordinate electrical engineering activities throughout planning, design, construction, and commissioning phases.
  • Support equipment selection, installation, startup, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Design and evaluate facility grounding systems, including high-resistance, isolated, and building grounding systems.
  • Conduct field investigations and verify installations for compliance with project requirements, electrical standards, and safety regulations.
  • Work directly with plant personnel, maintenance teams, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Support construction activities and provide onsite startup and commissioning support as needed.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, consulting engineering, industrial facilities, or construction-related projects.
  • Experience designing and supporting medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems.
  • Strong understanding of power distribution equipment and industrial electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical standards and codes including NEC, ANSI, NEMA, and NFPA.
  • Experience creating electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.
  • Ability to work independently on plant and industrial facility projects.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working directly with clients, contractors, and operations personnel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting projects within pulp and paper, chemical, food and beverage, consumer products, pharmaceutical, power generation, or heavy industrial facilities.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Revit.
  • Experience using AutoCAD and related design software.
  • Knowledge of electrical construction practices and field implementation.
  • Experience supporting startup, commissioning, and facility expansion projects.
  • Experience within engineering consulting, EPC, or design-build environments.
  • P.E. License or EIT certification is preferred but not required.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $120,000 - $170,000+, depending on experience, technical expertise, and project leadership background.
