As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you'll play a key role in the design and delivery of large-scale data center and mission-critical projects, working alongside some of the industry's most respected engineers and consultants. This position offers the opportunity to lead project teams, influence design strategy, mentor junior engineers, and work directly with high-profile clients on cutting-edge facilities.
The Role
The Lead Mechanical Engineer will lead the design, coordination, and execution of complex HVAC and mechanical systems for mission-critical facilities. This individual will be responsible for managing project deliverables from concept through construction, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and serving as a technical leader throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Design Leadership
- Lead mechanical system design for hyperscale data centers and mission-critical facilities
- Perform load calculations, energy analyses, and equipment sizing
- Design airside and hydronic systems, including pumps, piping, and HVAC equipment
- Develop and review technical specifications and sequences of operation
- Utilize Revit and AutoCAD to produce construction documents
- Support proposal development, project planning, budgeting, and resource forecasting
- Mentor and coordinate junior engineering staff
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
Project Delivery & Construction Support
- Conduct site assessments and existing-condition evaluations
- Prepare construction documentation and technical reports
- Review submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs
- Support construction administration, commissioning activities, and project closeout
- Collaborate closely with project managers to ensure quality, schedule, and budget objectives are achieved
Innovation & Digital Delivery
- Drive the adoption of digital tools, automation, and AI-enabled processes to improve project efficiency
- Leverage data analytics, visualization tools, and advanced project technologies
- Promote continuous improvement and innovation across engineering workflows
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, hydronic, and mission-critical mechanical systems
- Experience with mechanical codes, specifications, and controls systems
- Proficiency with Revit and/or AutoCAD
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
- Ability to lead projects and coordinate multidisciplinary teams
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
Preferred
- Data center or mission-critical project experience
- Experience supporting construction administration and commissioning efforts
- Familiarity with DDC controls, energy modeling, and advanced cooling technologies
