Lead Transmission Line Engineer
Overview:
A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a Lead Transmission Line Engineer to join its electric transmission design team. This role involves overseeing the design and execution of multiple transmission line projects, ranging from quick-turnaround assignments to large-scale, complex systems. The successful candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise, and a collaborative mindset to guide engineering teams and ensure high-quality project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead technical teams in the design of utility transmission systems, including cost estimation and client billing.
- Manage engineering efforts for transmission projects ranging from 34.5kV to 500kV.
- Develop project schedules and allocate technical resources effectively.
- Mentor junior engineers in engineering principles, safety codes, and industry standards (NESC, NEC, ASCE).
- Oversee the use of engineering software and tools, ensuring staff proficiency.
- Facilitate communication between engineering, planning, permitting, environmental, and construction teams.
- Conduct internal and external design reviews prior to submission.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of engineering policies and procedures.
- Support cross-departmental initiatives and maintain strong client relationships.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in power transmission design.
- Proven ability to lead engineering teams and manage multiple projects.
- Advanced knowledge of overhead and underground transmission systems.
- Familiarity with industry standards including NESC, ASCE, IEEE.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as PLS-CADD, MFAD, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in team leadership and resource management.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical direction within an engineering organization.
