A leading heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee and help grow a thriving water/wastewater construction division in Arizona. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a proven construction operations professional with deep experience delivering complex treatment plant infrastructure projects.
Position Overview
This role is responsible for the operational leadership of water/wastewater construction projects across Arizona, including oversight of project teams, field operations, financial performance, client relationships, staffing, and strategic growth initiatives.
The ideal candidate is already operating at an Operations Manager, Director, Vice President, Area Manager, or Senior Operations leadership level within a heavy civil contractor and understands the unique challenges associated with delivering large, complex water and wastewater facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide operational leadership for water/wastewater construction projects throughout Arizona
- Oversee Project Managers, Superintendents, and field leadership teams
- Manage project performance, profitability, staffing, forecasting, and resource allocation
- Develop and maintain relationships with municipal owners, engineers, and industry partners
- Lead strategic planning and support business growth initiatives
- Drive safety, quality, and operational excellence across the division
- Assist with pursuit strategy, preconstruction efforts, and major project planning
- Mentor and develop future operations leaders within the organization
Required Experience
- 10+ years of experience in water/wastewater construction
- Strong background delivering:
- Water Treatment Plants (WTPs)
- Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTPs)
- Water Reclamation Facilities (WRFs)
- Lift Stations
- Pump Stations
- Major utility and process-related infrastructure
- Experience working for a general contractor / heavy civil contractor
- Proven leadership experience overseeing multiple projects and project teams
- Background in Operations Management, Director-level, VP-level, or similar leadership roles preferred
- Strong financial, operational, and client-management skills
