About the Opportunity

An industry-leading project and construction management consultancy is seeking an experienced Program Construction Manager to oversee large-scale data center construction programs across the United States. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex, high-value projects for some of the world's most advanced technology and infrastructure clients.

The successful candidate will provide strategic oversight across multiple projects, ensuring consistency in delivery, quality, safety, cost control, and client satisfaction. This position is ideal for a construction leader who thrives in fast-paced, highly technical environments and enjoys managing large teams and programs across multiple locations.

Position Overview

The Program Construction Manager serves as the senior construction lead for a portfolio of data center projects. Working closely with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal teams, this individual will drive program performance, oversee project leaders, and ensure successful execution from planning through completion.

This role requires a proactive leader capable of balancing operational execution with strategic program management while supporting client relationships and future business growth.


Key Responsibilities

Program & Project Leadership

  • Provide oversight and leadership across multiple active construction projects.
  • Manage and support project-level construction managers and site leadership teams.
  • Ensure consistency in project delivery, reporting standards, quality expectations, and operational processes.
  • Monitor workforce planning, budget performance, resource allocation, and forecasting across the program.
  • Review project metrics and identify opportunities for improved efficiency and performance.

Client Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for senior client stakeholders across the program.
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships through transparency and consistent communication.
  • Deliver executive-level updates on project status, risks, budgets, schedules, and mitigation strategies.
  • Support strategic planning discussions and provide recommendations to improve project outcomes.

Construction Quality, Safety & Risk

  • Champion excellence in construction quality and field execution.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and site requirements.
  • Identify program-level risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimise impacts to scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Conduct regular reviews of project performance and corrective action plans where necessary.

Process Improvement & Innovation

  • Drive standardised processes and best practices across multiple project sites.
  • Support implementation of digital construction tools and reporting platforms.
  • Encourage continuous improvement initiatives and lessons-learned programs.
  • Utilise technology and data-driven insights to improve project controls and visibility.

Team Development

  • Mentor and develop construction managers and project teams.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing culture.
  • Assist with workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development initiatives.
  • Support recruitment and onboarding of key project personnel when required.

Business Development Support

  • Contribute to client growth strategies and pursuit opportunities.
  • Assist with proposals, staffing plans, presentations, and interviews.
  • Develop relationships within the mission-critical market to support long-term business growth.
  • Provide market intelligence and feedback on industry trends and client needs.

Technology & Digital Excellence

  • Promote the use of modern construction technologies, analytics tools, automation platforms, and AI-enabled processes.
  • Drive adoption of systems that improve reporting accuracy, forecasting, documentation, and project efficiency.
  • Ensure digital solutions align with organisational standards for security, governance, and performance.

Qualifications & Experience

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.

OR

  • Practical field experience involving mechanical, electrical, controls, commissioning, or critical infrastructure systems.

PLUS

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in construction, project management, or program management.
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale mission-critical, data center, industrial, or complex infrastructure projects.
  • Experience overseeing multiple concurrent projects and geographically dispersed teams.
  • Strong client-facing and executive communication skills.

Preferred Credentials

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
  • Additional industry-specific safety or technical certifications

Knowledge & Skills

Successful candidates will possess:

  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, controls, and critical facility systems.
  • Experience managing major construction programs within mission-critical environments.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction methodologies, project controls, and risk management practices.
  • Familiarity with safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and industry regulations.
  • Experience with construction management platforms such as Procore or similar technologies.
  • Strong financial management, forecasting, and reporting capabilities.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Proven capability to balance schedule, cost, quality, and client expectations.

Travel Requirements

  • Extensive travel throughout the United States.
  • Ability to work on long-term project assignments ranging from several months to multiple years.
  • Valid driver's licence and ability to travel by air and vehicle.
