Overview
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Architect to lead and manage architectural projects from concept through completion. This role requires a strong technical foundation, leadership capabilities, and a passion for design excellence. The ideal candidate will bring experience across a range of project types and demonstrate the ability to guide teams through all phases of design and construction.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all phases of architectural projects, applying deep technical knowledge across a variety of project scales and complexities.
  • Manage and mentor teams of varying sizes, delegating tasks effectively, coordinating internal and external contributors, and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Conduct final reviews and approvals for code compliance, material selections, and technical specifications.
  • Oversee the production of construction documents and manage the integrity of the BIM model throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Represent the firm in client meetings, maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers to align project execution with established workplans; proactively recommend adjustments to staffing or scope as needed.
  • Ensure the team delivers work efficiently and in alignment with project goals and technical feasibility.
  • Champion design quality throughout the project, encouraging innovation and excellence among team members and consultants.
  • Promote best practices in documentation to reduce risk and improve quality; mentor junior staff and set clear expectations for accountability.

Qualifications

  • Based in or near New Haven, CT, with the ability to work in-office at least three days per week.
  • Professional degree in Architecture (Bachelor's or Master's).
  • Architectural licensure or active pursuit of licensure is required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in an architectural firm, with a portfolio that includes residential, K-12 educational, and/or laboratory projects.
  • Demonstrated success in leading design, documentation, and construction administration processes.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
  • Strong decision-making abilities and independent judgment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit.
  • Familiarity with design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, SketchUp, Rhino, and 3ds Max.
