Project Manager - Utility-Scale Solar (EPC Phase)
Position Overview
We are seeking a driven Project Manager to oversee large-scale solar energy initiatives during the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) stage. This role focuses on projects typically ranging from approximately 50MW to 200MW and requires hands-on leadership from project award through final delivery and turnover.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead execution of utility-scale solar builds, ensuring delivery aligns with safety standards, timelines, and financial targets.
- Oversee financial performance, including budgeting, procurement/buyout activities, cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams (internal and external) to maintain alignment across engineering, construction, and operational milestones.
- Manage subcontractors by monitoring costs, schedules, and daily site progress against established benchmarks.
- Handle contract administration, scope changes, and ensure compliance with all contractual, regulatory, environmental, and safety requirements.
- Work closely with on-site leadership to troubleshoot construction challenges and ensure efficient field operations.
- Partner with departments such as Engineering, Preconstruction, Finance, Legal, and Compliance to support project delivery.
- Act as a primary liaison with clients, vendors, and stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.
Qualifications and Experience
- 2-4+ years of experience leading EPC solar projects in a primary Project Manager capacity.
- Demonstrated success managing large-scale construction scopes, ideally within the 50MW-200MW range; energy storage experience is a plus.
- Strong command of project management principles including cost control, procurement strategy, change orders, and contract execution.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and scheduling platforms such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Ability to interpret and review multi-discipline construction drawings across civil, mechanical, and electrical scopes.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including confidence in client-facing settings.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
or - Equivalent industry experience (5+ years) managing EPC solar construction projects with increasing responsibility
Preferred Credentials
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent
- Advanced degree in engineering, construction, or business-related field
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds periodically
- Comfortable working onsite in varying terrain and conditions, including walking, climbing, kneeling, and navigating uneven ground
