Senior Control Engineer
Key Responsibilities
- Lead controls engineering activities for complex automation and industrial systems projects.
- Design, develop, test, and commission PLC, HMI, and SCADA applications for custom automated equipment and manufacturing systems.
- Program and troubleshoot control systems utilizing Rockwell Automation and other leading industrial automation platforms.
- Develop machine sequencing, motion control, safety logic, alarm handling, and process control strategies.
- Integrate PLCs, HMIs, robotics, vision systems, motion control hardware, industrial networks, sensors, and field devices.
- Participate in all phases of the project lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, startup, and customer acceptance.
- Conduct onsite commissioning, troubleshooting, and system optimization activities at customer facilities.
- Create and maintain technical documentation including functional specifications, control narratives, IO lists, software development documents, and operating procedures.
- Support factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and startup activities.
- Work directly with customers to identify technical requirements and develop automation solutions that meet project objectives.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, and project engineering teams to deliver complete system solutions.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior controls engineers and engineering team members.
- Assist with project planning, resource allocation, technical proposals, and scope development.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to standardize controls architecture and software development practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 7+ years of hands-on controls engineering experience in industrial automation, manufacturing, robotics, or process control environments.
- Strong experience programming and troubleshooting PLC-based control systems.
- Experience developing HMI and SCADA applications for industrial systems.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and networking architectures.
- Proven experience leading controls projects from concept through commissioning.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex automation systems involving hardware, software, and networked devices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work directly with customers and project stakeholders.
- Ability to travel up to 20% for project startup, commissioning, and customer support activitie
