Overview
A leading renewable energy and infrastructure developer is seeking a Senior Director, Data Center Power Integration & Utility Strategy to lead the design, integration, and operational execution of power systems for large-scale data center campuses. This role is ideal for a technically accomplished Electrical Engineer with deep expertise in data center power infrastructure, grid interconnection, and utility engagement, who can also bridge the gap between data center development and renewable energy solutions to unlock new commercial opportunities.

This is a high-impact leadership role with visibility across the organization, offering the opportunity to shape the future of sustainable, high-capacity data center operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and integration of electrical power systems for large-scale data centers, ensuring reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Oversee power distribution architecture, including high-voltage systems, backup generation, UPS systems, and energy storage integration.
  • Engage with utilities and ISOs/RTOs to secure interconnection agreements, negotiate timelines, and manage grid capacity planning for high-load data center projects.
  • Develop and execute utility engagement strategies to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of power infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to select, procure, and manage critical electrical infrastructure.
  • Ensure seamless integration of power systems with cooling, networking, and construction workflows.
  • Provide technical leadership during all phases-from conceptual design through commissioning and ongoing operations.
  • Establish and enforce standards for electrical design, safety, and compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage vendor relationships and oversee quality assurance for all power-related systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent certification required.
  • 10+ years of experience in data center power systems design, integration, and operations, with a proven track record in large-scale projects.
  • Expertise in high-voltage distribution, backup generation, UPS systems, and grid interconnection.
  • Demonstrated experience in utility engagement and interconnection processes for large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Preferred: Previous experience in transmission planning or grid integration strategy.
  • Strong understanding of data center electrical infrastructure and operational workflows.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance and data center design standards.

Preferred:

  • 15+ years of experience managing global or multi-site data center projects.
  • Experience with renewable energy integration and sustainable power strategies.
  • Knowledge of energy-efficient design and emerging technologies for high-load environments.
