Senior Estimator - Retail Construction - Dallas-Fort Worth

A well-established commercial general contractor in the Dallas-Fort Worth market is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to support its continued growth. This role will lead preconstruction efforts for ground-up retail projects, including pad sites, big-box retail, and multi-tenant developments. The ideal candidate brings deep market knowledge, precise cost management skills, and the ability to deliver accurate estimates in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities

  • Lead full-cycle estimating for ground-up retail construction projects.
  • Prepare conceptual, schematic, and detailed estimates.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and subcontractor proposals.
  • Conduct quantity takeoffs and generate accurate budgets.
  • Maintain historical cost data and update unit pricing information.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners throughout the preconstruction phase.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities to align scope and budget.
  • Manage bid solicitations and subcontractor outreach.
  • Support proposal development and participate in presentations when needed.

Experience Needed

  • Minimum 7 years of estimating experience with a commercial general contractor.
  • Proven background in ground-up retail construction.
  • Strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers in the DFW market.
  • Ability to independently lead estimates from conceptual design through GMP.
  • Proficiency with estimating platforms such as Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, Sage/Timberline, or similar systems.
  • Demonstrated experience developing detailed quantity takeoffs and cost breakdowns.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction means, methods, and local building codes.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet fast-paced deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and strong critical-thinking ability.
