Senior Structural Quality Manager
A nationally recognised building design consultancy is looking for a senior structural engineering leader to strengthen the technical quality, consistency and delivery standards of its structural design team.
This is a high-impact role for an experienced PE who enjoys being the technical voice on complex building projects, supporting engineering teams, improving QA/QC processes and helping shape how structural work is delivered across the business.
You'll be joining a respected structural design group known for working on complex, highly coordinated building projects across multiple sectors. The role offers strong visibility, influence and the opportunity to mentor teams while raising the standard of technical delivery.
The Role
You will act as a senior technical resource across structural projects, supporting teams with design quality, code compliance, documentation reviews and project delivery best practice.
This position would suit someone who has spent their career in building structures and is now looking for a role with broader influence across technical standards, quality management and team development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical reviews across structural drawings, specifications and project documentation.
- Support project teams with design, code, coordination and constructability challenges.
- Review deliverables to ensure they meet project requirements, internal standards and applicable codes.
- Help plan and complete QA/QC reviews at key project milestones.
- Provide practical technical guidance to engineers and project teams.
- Improve the quality and consistency of structural deliverables across the team.
- Support internal training around code compliance, technical standards and project delivery.
- Stay updated on new materials, systems, code changes and industry developments.
- Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, suppliers and technical contacts.
- Contribute to project review meetings, technical discussions and multi-discipline coordination.
Skills & Experience
- Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer licence required.
- Extensive structural engineering experience, ideally around 20+ years.
- Strong background in building structures and complex project delivery.
- Advanced knowledge of structural codes, building codes, construction methods and materials.
- Experience with QA/QC reviews, specifications and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of structural building systems across small and large-scale projects.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across different live projects.
- Collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence teams effectively.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Bluebeam Revu, Revit and Microsoft Office would be beneficial.
- Sustainable design accreditation or integrated design experience would be advantageous.
