Position Summary
The Senior Roadway Design Engineer will lead and contribute to the planning and design of roadway and transportation projects. This role involves technical design, project coordination, and mentoring junior staff, while also supporting client engagement and business development efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed design plans, technical reports, and construction documentation
- Assist with project scoping, budgeting, and contract execution
- Design roadway systems in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards
- Coordinate with clients, agencies, and internal teams
- Participate in public meetings and stakeholder presentations
- Provide guidance and quality reviews for junior engineers and designers
- Support proposal development and contribute technical expertise to project pursuits
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in roadway and transportation design
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Proficiency with design software such as MicroStation, Geopak, Corridor Modeling, and OpenRoads
- Familiarity with DOT standards and project workflows
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Experience mentoring or supervising technical staff
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Self-driven with a collaborative mindset
