Job Summary - EPC Project Manager

A commercial solar EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) firm specializing in the design and construction of solar PV arrays is seeking an experienced and driven Project Manager to join its growing team. The Project Manager will support solar projects by planning, directing, and coordinating all phases of solar installation projects from start to finish, ensuring schedules, budgets, and customer requirements are met. This role reports to the Director of Operations.

Duties and Responsibilities of EPC Project Manager

  • Review and approve project budgets prior to proposal delivery to clients
  • Draft, review, and execute AIA contracts with subcontractors
  • Establish work plans and staffing requirements for each project phase, including arranging for recruitment or assignment of personnel
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define work plans and assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority
  • Direct and coordinate project personnel to ensure projects progress on schedule and within approved budgets
  • Provide monthly revenue and cost forecasts based on project schedules
  • Prepare and deliver project status reports to management, clients, and other stakeholders, including regular client meetings
  • Confer with project personnel to provide technical guidance and resolve issues
  • Coordinate project activities with government regulatory agencies and other authorities having jurisdiction
  • Serve as the primary liaison for the assigned region, working closely with business development, engineering, customers, internal teams, external resources, and leadership on all project-related matters
  • Assist with or complete solar PV system designs if the candidate has an electrical engineering background
  • Provide on-site supervision as required
  • Travel up to 25 percent as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Abilities for EPC Project Manager

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Strong understanding of contracts, plans, specifications, and applicable regulations
  • Ability to remain flexible and efficient in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to make sound and timely decisions under pressure and during unexpected challenges or delays
  • Strong multitasking skills with the ability to analyze and solve problems effectively
  • Thorough understanding of engineering, architectural, and construction drawings

Education and Experience of EPC Project Manager

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, or three or more years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification preferred
  • NABCEP certification preferred
  • Electrical engineering experience preferred
  • Solar PV system maintenance or design experience is a plus
  • Confidence working with high-voltage AC and DC circuitry
  • Willingness to work on ladders and man-lifts
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural documentation
  • Ability to present information clearly and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, and schedule-based instructions
  • Strong customer service skills, including excellent communication, high emotional intelligence, a positive attitude, and a service-oriented leadership approach
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability
  • High level of integrity and commitment to quality
  • Strong work ethic and personal accountability
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, and or Smartsheets
  • Experience with ERP systems, including Sage, preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to traverse and inspect all areas of a job-site in varying weather conditions, including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, and stretching
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Exposure to typical construction site hazards
