About the Opportunity
LVI Associates is partnered with a well-capitalized, privately backed energy infrastructure developer that is rapidly expanding its power generation portfolio across the United States.
Backed by a leading infrastructure investment firm with significant capital committed to the energy sector, our client is uniquely positioned to capitalize on the growing demand for reliable, dispatchable power generation. With an extensive development pipeline spanning multiple US power markets, the organization is investing heavily in new generation infrastructure to support grid reliability, accelerating electricity demand, and the continued expansion of hyperscale data centers.
As part of this growth, the team is looking to bring on an experienced Senior Director or Vice President of Project Development to help originate, develop, and execute large-scale power generation projects across the country.
This is an opportunity to join a growing development platform with strong financial backing, an experienced leadership team, and the resources to take complex energy infrastructure projects from initial concept through commercial operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of large-scale natural gas-fired power generation projects, including combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) and other thermal generation and Utility Scale Renewable assets.
- Identify and evaluate new greenfield development opportunities across strategic US power markets.
- Manage the full project development lifecycle, including site selection, land acquisition, permitting, interconnection, environmental studies, and commercial development.
- Coordinate with utilities, transmission operators, gas pipeline companies, landowners, regulators, and other key stakeholders.
- Oversee project economics, development budgets, schedules, risk assessments, and overall project feasibility.
- Support negotiations involving land agreements, fuel supply, interconnection, power offtake, and other commercial arrangements.
- Collaborate with internal engineering, finance, legal, and executive leadership teams to advance projects toward financial close, notice to proceed, and construction.
- Evaluate emerging opportunities tied to data center development, large-load customers, and other rapidly growing sources of electricity demand.
- Build and maintain relationships with development partners, utilities, investors, and other industry stakeholders.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in power generation, energy infrastructure, or utility-scale project development.
- Direct experience developing natural gas-fired power generation facilities, ideally including combined-cycle gas turbine projects.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex development projects from early-stage origination through advanced development milestones.
- Strong understanding of permitting, environmental regulations, transmission interconnection, land acquisition, and commercial development.
- Experience navigating US wholesale electricity markets such as ERCOT, PJM, MISO, SPP, or ISO-NE.
- Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and ability to manage relationships with utilities, regulators, landowners, and other stakeholders.
- Experience working with independent power producers, utilities, infrastructure developers, or other major power generation organizations.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, finance, or a related field preferred.
