Compensation: $100,000-$130,000 base salary (dependent on experience)

Position Overview

The Structural Project Engineer will play a key role in the planning, design, and execution of residential structural engineering projects. This position offers a blend of technical design work, project coordination, and client interaction. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys seeing projects through from concept to construction and is eager to grow into a senior technical or project leadership role over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and design for residential structures using wood-frame, light-gauge steel, concrete, and steel systems
  • Prepare detailed engineering calculations, construction drawings, and specifications for permitting and construction
  • Manage assigned projects from initial design through construction, including scheduling, coordination, and quality control
  • Coordinate with architects, designers, contractors, and clients to ensure designs align with project goals and budgets
  • Review architectural drawings and provide structural input early in the design process
  • Respond to plan check comments, RFIs, and construction-phase inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Conduct site visits as needed to verify existing conditions, review construction progress, and support field issues
  • Apply applicable codes and standards, including the California Building Code, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, and NDS
  • Participate in internal QA/QC reviews to maintain high technical and documentation standards
  • Support and mentor junior engineers and designers as the team grows

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
  • 3-7+ years of professional experience in structural engineering, with a strong emphasis on residential projects
  • EIT certification required; PE license preferred or actively working toward licensure
  • Experience working in California and familiarity with local jurisdictions and permitting processes
  • Proficiency with structural analysis and design software such as ETABS, RISA, SAP2000, or similar tools
  • Experience producing construction documents using AutoCAD and/or Revit
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with clients and project partners
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
