Structural Project Manager

Senior Structural Engineer / Project Manager

A growing structural engineering team in Austin is looking to add a senior-level engineer who can take ownership of complex building projects, manage client relationships, and support the continued development of a high-performing technical team.

This role is suited to a licensed structural engineer who enjoys both technical delivery and project leadership. The position will involve managing projects from early design through construction support, coordinating with architects and project partners, reviewing technical work, mentoring engineers, and contributing to future client growth.

The opportunity would be a strong fit for someone who wants a clear path toward broader leadership while remaining closely involved in structural design, project execution, and client-facing work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead structural engineering projects across a range of building types from concept through construction administration
  • Act as the senior technical point of contact for assigned projects
  • Oversee structural design, documentation, calculations, and construction-phase services
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, resources, and deliverables
  • Review engineering work for accuracy, constructability, code compliance, and overall quality
  • Coordinate closely with architects, contractors, owners, consultants, and internal project teams
  • Support junior engineers through technical guidance, mentoring, and project oversight
  • Assist with proposal development, fee planning, and client presentations
  • Help maintain and grow client relationships through strong delivery and communication
  • Contribute to internal standards, QA/QC processes, and continued team development

Desired Background

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 10+ years of building-focused structural engineering experience
  • Professional Engineer license required
  • Structural Engineer license preferred but not required
  • Experience managing structural projects, teams, budgets, schedules, and technical deliverables
  • Strong understanding of building design, construction documentation, and construction administration
  • Experience reviewing calculations, drawings, specifications, and project documentation
  • Familiarity with common structural design software, BIM workflows, and applicable building codes
  • Comfortable working directly with clients, architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Interest in mentoring developing engineers and contributing to long-term team growth

Why This Opportunity

  • Senior role with influence over project delivery, client relationships, and team development
  • Opportunity to work on complex building projects across Austin and the broader region
  • Clear path toward technical leadership, project leadership, or future department-level responsibility
  • Collaborative engineering environment with a strong focus on quality, mentorship, and professional growth
  • Competitive compensation based on experience, licensure, and level of project responsibility
  • Comprehensive benefits package including healthcare, retirement support, paid time off, and professional development resources

This is a strong opportunity for a senior structural engineer who wants project ownership, client exposure, and a realistic pathway into broader leadership within a growing Austin team.
