Supervisor of Operations - Combined Cycle Power Plant

Location: Spring Hill, FL
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

Seeking an experienced operations leader to plan, coordinate, supervise, and participate in all power plant operations and maintenance activities at a combined cycle generation facility. This role is responsible for ensuring reliable plant performance, meeting electrical load demands, maximizing plant capacity, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance. The position also focuses on developing team members, promoting ownership of plant equipment and processes, and supporting overall operational excellence.

Qualifications & Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Engineering degree, related degree, or equivalent training preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible power plant operations experience.
  • At least five (5) years of supervisory experience or experience serving as a Control Room Operator (CRO).
  • Experience with both power plant maintenance and operation of combustion and steam turbines is preferred.

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Operation of combined cycle combustion and steam turbines.
  • Knowledge of auxiliary equipment systems.
  • Maintenance practices and techniques for combined cycle generating facilities.
  • Root cause analysis and troubleshooting of technical issues.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and industry best practices.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Familiarity with NERC Reliability Standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise operations personnel in the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the facility.
  • Develop and implement employee training programs.
  • Coordinate daily activities for plant employees and contractors.
  • Lead assigned crews on a 12-hour rotating shift schedule.
  • Develop and maintain operating procedures and guidelines.
  • Participate in budgeting, capital planning, and work planning activities.
  • Manage employee performance and work schedules.
  • Maintain inventory levels of required materials and chemicals.
  • Lead emergency response efforts, including fire brigade activities and incident command responsibilities.
  • Administer and enforce the site's Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) program.
  • Coordinate with system dispatch personnel to meet generation requirements.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts related to equipment failures, safety incidents, environmental events, and compliance matters.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
  • Serve as outage coordinator or project lead during major outage activities as needed.
  • Maintain subject matter expertise in one or more major plant systems or processes.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and NERC requirements.

Working Conditions

  • Rotating 12-hour shift schedule.
  • Some travel required.
  • Work performed both indoors and outdoors in an industrial power generation environment.
  • Work at heights exceeding 200 feet and in confined spaces.
  • Exposure to high-pressure steam, water, air systems, chemicals, and other industrial hazards.
  • Valid driver's license required.
