Job Title: Traffic Design Engineer
Location: Southern California
Salary Range: $90,000 - $125,000

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Traffic Design Engineer to join our dynamic transportation engineering team in California. This role involves the planning, design, and analysis of traffic systems and infrastructure to improve safety, mobility, and sustainability across urban and suburban environments. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, creativity, and a collaborative spirit to support a wide range of public and private sector projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop traffic signal designs, signing and striping plans, and traffic control plans in accordance with Caltrans and local agency standards.
  • Conduct traffic impact studies, intersection capacity analyses, and corridor evaluations using software such as Synchro, VISSIM, and HCS.
  • Prepare construction documents including plans, specifications, and cost estimates (PS&E).
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including roadway, structural, and environmental engineers.
  • Support permitting and approval processes with Caltrans, local municipalities, and regional agencies.
  • Incorporate Complete Streets and Vision Zero principles into design solutions.
  • Participate in public meetings and stakeholder engagement efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master's preferred).
  • California PE license (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
  • 3+ years of experience in traffic engineering and design.
  • Proficiency in Auto-CAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of California MUTCD, Highway Design Manual, and local agency guidelines.
