My client, a well-respected engineering consulting firm with a strong reputation in transportation infrastructure, is seeking a Traffic Engineer Technical Lead to provide technical leadership and strategic direction for traffic engineering and transportation projects across a multi-state service area.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior traffic engineering professional who enjoys mentoring staff, providing technical oversight, and helping drive the growth of a transportation practice. The role offers flexibility, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and the chance to impact a wide variety of public and private sector projects.
What You'll Be Doing
- Provide technical leadership and oversight for traffic engineering and transportation planning projects.
- Lead and review traffic impact studies, traffic operations analyses, safety studies, traffic signal warrant analyses, and corridor evaluations.
- Oversee the preparation of traffic signal designs, signing and pavement marking plans, maintenance of traffic plans, and related transportation documentation.
- Serve as a technical resource and mentor for engineering staff.
- Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and quality control efforts.
- Assist with proposal development, presentations, client engagement, and business development activities.
- Contribute to strategic growth initiatives within the transportation practice.
- Develop and maintain QA/QC standards to ensure consistency and technical excellence.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in traffic engineering and transportation.
- Strong knowledge of traffic operations, traffic safety, traffic signal systems, and transportation planning.
- Experience leading and reviewing traffic impact studies, traffic signal improvement projects, and other traffic engineering assignments.
- Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills.
- Willingness to travel as needed for project and client meetings.
