Senior Transmission Line Engineer
Location: Hybrid in select U.S. offices or fully remote
About the Opportunity
A leading employee-owned engineering and infrastructure consulting firm is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to support a growing Power Delivery team. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact transmission, distribution, and renewable energy projects while collaborating with industry experts on electric utility infrastructure programs across North America.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead transmission line design projects using PLS-CADD and related engineering software.
- Develop design criteria, technical specifications, and construction documentation.
- Prepare complete construction packages, including structure details, material lists, plan and profiles, staking tables, and stringing charts.
- Perform project cost estimates, resource planning, and schedule development.
- Ensure compliance with applicable NESC, IEEE, NEC, and industry standards.
- Conduct routing studies, feasibility assessments, and EMF calculations.
- Support construction and implementation activities, including foundation and structure reviews.
- Participate in proposal development and business development efforts.
- Interface directly with clients and project stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, or Structural Engineering.
- 3+ years of transmission line design experience.
- Strong knowledge of NESC, IEEE, and related transmission design standards.
- Proficiency with PLS-CADD.
- Experience supporting electric utilities or utility consulting projects preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with RISA-3D and/or STAAD.
- Familiarity with AISC, ACI 318, ASCE 7, ASCE 10, ASCE 48, CSA, EIA/TIA-222, and GO95 standards.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
