About the Company
A leading provider of integrated energy services for commercial and industrial clients is seeking a Vice President, Infrastructure to lead and scale its infrastructure operations. The company delivers energy management and infrastructure solutions that help clients reduce costs, improve resilience, and achieve sustainability goals through services such as energy procurement, load management, asset optimization, and private transmission and distributed generation development.
Role Overview
The VP, Infrastructure will oversee and direct multiple functions, including project management, construction, procurement, commissioning, and ongoing operations of grid infrastructure assets. This leader will design and implement scalable processes and systems to enable sustainable growth, operational efficiency, and consistency across the infrastructure lifecycle. The role ensures infrastructure assets deliver energy that is efficient, reliable, and cost-effective for customers.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Oversight
- Develop and execute the strategic vision for the infrastructure portfolio aligned with corporate growth objectives.
- Oversee project development, construction, procurement, and operations teams.
- Establish performance metrics and reporting structures for cost control and operational excellence.
Process & Systems Development
- Implement standardized processes across infrastructure functions to ensure scalability and efficiency.
- Introduce technology platforms and best practices for quality, compliance, and cost control.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to optimize workflows and handoffs between development and operations.
Project Development & Delivery
- Provide technical and operational input during early-stage project planning.
- Assume full accountability for execution post-award, including design finalization, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Negotiate major contracts and manage vendor relationships for best-value outcomes.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure infrastructure assets operate at maximum efficiency and reliability.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce lifecycle costs.
- Monitor compliance with regulatory, safety, and environmental standards.
Financial & Risk Management
- Develop and manage capital and operating budgets.
- Identify and mitigate technical, financial, and operational risks.
- Support investment decisions with accurate cost forecasts and ROI analysis.
Stakeholder Engagement & Team Leadership
- Serve as senior liaison with clients, regulators, and partners.
- Build and mentor a high-performing team across infrastructure functions.
- Foster a culture of safety, innovation, and accountability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- 18+ years of progressive experience in infrastructure management or energy operations.
- 10+ years in leadership roles overseeing multiple functions.
- Proven track record managing large-scale infrastructure projects from design through operations.
Technical & Operational Expertise
- Deep understanding of energy infrastructure systems and technologies, with experience managing critical infrastructure that delivers efficient, reliable, and cost-effective solutions.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to executives, clients, and teams.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills to align diverse expectations.
- Ability to foster collaboration and engagement across all organizational levels.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Abilities
- Strong analytical skills to interpret data, track KPIs, and drive continuous improvement.
- Ability to solve complex, high-stakes problems and deliver optimal outcomes.
Certifications (Preferred)
- PMP or equivalent project management certification.
- Six Sigma or Lean Management certification.
- Energy-specific certifications (e.g., LEED, CEM) are advantageous.
