About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Wastewater Practice Leader to lead and expand our wastewater practice throughout Arizona and the Southwest. This individual will serve as a strategic leader responsible for client development, project delivery, team growth, and market expansion while overseeing some of the region's most impactful wastewater infrastructure programs.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical background in wastewater collection, conveyance, treatment, and rehabilitation projects, along with a proven track record of business development, client management, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Practice Leadership
- Lead the strategic growth of the wastewater practice throughout Arizona.
- Develop and execute market growth plans and business development initiatives.
- Establish and strengthen relationships with municipal clients, utilities, and regional stakeholders.
- Identify and pursue new project opportunities, contracts, and master service agreements.
- Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and professional organizations.
Client & Business Development
- Serve as a trusted advisor to public-sector clients.
- Develop and maintain relationships with municipalities, water districts, and regulatory agencies.
- Lead proposal efforts, interview presentations, contract negotiations, and project pursuits.
- Support annual revenue growth and backlog development goals.
- Collaborate with firm leadership to expand market presence across the Southwest region.
Project Delivery
- Provide executive oversight and technical leadership on wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Guide project teams through planning, design, permitting, construction, and program management.
- Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.
- Serve as Project Director, Program Manager, or Client Service Manager on key projects.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering staff.
- Build and lead high-performing multidisciplinary project teams.
- Provide coaching and career development opportunities for project managers and technical staff.
- Foster a collaborative, client-focused, and growth-oriented culture.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- 12+ years of progressively responsible wastewater engineering experience.
- Proven experience managing and delivering municipal wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Established relationships within the Arizona municipal market.
- Demonstrated success in business development and client management.
- Experience leading project teams and mentoring engineering staff.
- Strong communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
Preferred
- Experience leading a wastewater practice, department, or business unit.
- Existing relationships with municipalities across the Phoenix metropolitan area.
- Experience overseeing treatment plants, lift stations, force mains, collection systems, and capital improvement programs.
- Active involvement in WEF, AZ Water, APWA, ACEC, or other relevant industry organizations.
- Track record of winning and managing large-scale municipal programs.
