Assistant Project Manager - Western Chicago Suburbs
A respected and growing general contractor in the Western Chicago Suburbs is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support a diverse portfolio of commercial and industrial construction projects. This role offers hands‑on exposure to all phases of the construction lifecycle and the opportunity to work closely with experienced Project Managers and senior leadership on complex, fast‑paced builds.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in managing projects from preconstruction through closeout
- Support project scheduling, budgeting, cost tracking, and document control
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal field teams
- Assist with procurement, subcontractor buyout, and change order management
- Review submittals, RFIs, and project documentation for completeness and accuracy
- Participate in jobsite meetings and maintain clear communication with all stakeholders
- Help ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards
Experience Needed
- 3-5 years of experience working for a general contractor
- Exposure to commercial and/or industrial construction projects
- Experience supporting ground‑up construction, renovations, or interior build‑outs
- Familiarity with coordinating subcontractors and managing multiple project scopes
- Basic understanding of construction means, methods, and sequencing
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency with project management and construction documentation software
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment
- Detail‑oriented mindset with a proactive approach to problem solving
