A nationally recognized engineering consulting firm is seeking a Geotechnical Project Engineer to join its growing Southern California team. This opportunity is ideal for an engineer who is looking to expand technical expertise, take on greater project responsibility, and work alongside some of the industry's leading geotechnical professionals.
The firm is known for its collaborative culture, technical excellence, and involvement in many of Southern California's most notable land development, infrastructure, transportation, and institutional projects. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on challenging projects while receiving mentorship from a deep bench of experienced geotechnical engineers and engineering geologists.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute geotechnical investigations for a variety of project types
- Perform engineering analyses related to foundations, earthwork, settlement, slope stability, retaining structures, and seismic design
- Prepare geotechnical engineering reports and recommendations
- Coordinate field exploration programs, laboratory testing, and construction observations
- Review and interpret subsurface conditions and geotechnical data
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams including civil, structural, and environmental professionals
- Support client meetings and project coordination efforts
- Assist with proposal preparation and business development activities as experience grows
- Mentor junior engineering staff and support technical development initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical emphasis
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain in the near term
- 4+ years of geotechnical engineering experience
- Experience preparing geotechnical reports and performing engineering analyses
- Familiarity with Southern California subsurface conditions and development practices
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced consulting environment

- Software such as gINT, GeoStudio, LPile, GROUP, Settle3, or similar geotechnical tools
