Project Executive - Construction / Environmental & Water/Wastewater Projects

Location: Hartford, CT | Regional Travel Required
Employment Type: Full-Time | Exempt

Role Overview
A well-established organization delivering complex construction and infrastructure solutions is seeking a Project Executive to provide senior leadership across a portfolio of environmental and water-related construction projects. This role carries full accountability for project performance and team leadership, with responsibility for aligning technical execution, financial outcomes, safety, and client satisfaction.

The Project Executive operates at a strategic and operational level, serving as the primary leadership interface between project teams, executive management, clients, and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide executive oversight for multiple construction and environmental infrastructure projects from planning through closeout
  • Serve as the senior leadership contact for clients, design professionals, subcontractors, vendors, and regulatory stakeholders
  • Lead, mentor, and develop project managers, engineers, and field leadership teams
  • Establish and monitor project performance related to schedule, cost, quality, safety, and compliance
  • Oversee project financials including budgets, forecasting, cost controls, cash flow, and change management
  • Guide procurement strategies, subcontractor coordination, and contract administration
  • Ensure adherence to applicable environmental regulations, safety standards, and permitting requirements
  • Partner with internal departments to align operations, estimating, accounting, and administrative support
  • Support continuous improvement of project delivery processes, reporting tools, and performance metrics
  • Drive client satisfaction, repeat work, and long-term relationship development

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Environmental, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in construction, infrastructure, environmental, or water-related projects
  • Proven success delivering technically complex projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing project and field teams
  • Strong command of project controls, contracts, schedules, and financial management
  • Experience with project management systems and Microsoft Office tools
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required
